I would like to thank all of the people from the 2011 Global Focus Photography Competition for the award of 1st place for my submission. It is always a great thrill to have an image recognized, and it is an honor to have taken first place in this competition. This year there were many other great images submitted to the competition which makes this award that much more meaningful. Some background on this image: This image was shot on the eve of a first DOCTRID conference in Dublin Ireland in October of 2010. I was actually there to film aRead more

This past summer I had the fortune of being able to tour Giverny just outside of Paris. The weather started out great as we headed out form Rouen, but by the time we reached Giverny the beautiful skies had given way to large storm clouds that quickly moved in. fortunately we stayed dry until just after our tour, then the skies opened up and poured the rest of the afternoon. Here are a few shots I got while in the gardens. Yes, I shot exclusively with my 10mm Nikkor Fisheye lens.
Here are a few images from a recent trip to San Fransisco. If it had been left up to me I would have spent alot more time out in Cali, but duty calls and I had to return despite my personal protest. The warm weather was a welcome change to the bleary wet weather spring had to offer back home, even though the one day I got a chance to get out and shoot the city the weather was overcast and foggy…oh well that’s the luck sometimes.
This past December I was fortunate enough to find myself on a trip to Shanghai China for work. I was sent to China to capture a workshop being put on in partnership with Michigan State University and the Coca-Cola Company. While in China I was able to grab a few shots while out and about. Here is a little behind the scenes video of my shoot in China. A few of the images I shot along the way. Overall, my trip to China was very fun. I did not have a lot of time for site seeing but I didRead more
In celebration of Labor Day this year, a few friends and I piled into a car and headed up north to Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge. We went to the bridge to participate in the 52nd annual Bridge Walk. Every year (for the last 52 anyway) they shut down the bridge on Labor Day and people from all over the country (and World) walk across the bridge. It is quite the spectacle. We were lucky to have great weather all weekend, we did have a nice patch of fog roll in on us as we were crossing the bridge, so that madeRead more
I recently took a trip to Ireland with family and it was an absolute blast. I traveled the countryside with camera in hand as we moved our way from Dublin to Galway via the southern coastline. Most notably I enjoyed my time in Kinsale and Galway (including the Aran Islands). It was a wonderful trip filled with great beer, family, friends and adventure. When traveling, I always try and take my travel camera kit, and this trip was no exception. My kit consists of the Lowpro Fastpack 350 which I must say is rather roomy and not only can itRead more
